You probably know Julian Curry from seeing him numerous times on television or stage. He is perhaps best known as Claude Erskine-Brown on the ITV/PBS series Rumpole of the Bailey, and has appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Company, at the National Theatre, and in many shows in London's West End. He has recently appeared in the movies Fathers and Sons, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law and Angelina Jolie. Julian is a freelance member of the Circle of Wine Writers, and holds a Diploma from The Wine and Spirit Education Trust. HIC! is a hilarious and entertaining romp through history, literature, and wine. Julian Curry weaves together quotes about wine from authors and historical figures ranging from Shakespeare and Dickens to P.G.Wodehouse and W.C.Fields as he tells the history of wine in general, and of a certain bottle of 421-year-old wine in particular. Come and enjoy the show about which Wine Magazine wrote: "HIC! is a hilarious and informed one-man play...Laughing gear is a prerequisite!" "Brilliantly
put together and very funny" "An absolute
gem"

"HIC! offers a speedy ride through thousands of years of wine history, pouring out some fascinating trivia, a splash of facts, several strong sips of wine's importance in the world and a quenching evening's entertainment. "But it is
Curry's charming personality that truly makes the piece work. A crafty
and versatile actor, Curry makes the presentation look almost effortless,
as if we were all sitting across the living room from him as he regaled
us with stories from the vine." |
